HARRISBURG – Rep. Tim Bonner (R-Mercer/Butler) today announced funding was awarded through The Broadband Infrastructure Program (BIP) for residents of the 17th Legislative District. Armstrong Telecommunications was awarded two separate grants to deliver better broadband service across Butler County and Western Pennsylvania. These grants will be worth $9 million and $7.6 million respectively.

"As technology continues to expand its capabilities, we must be able to supply it across our region," said Bonner. "These grants will help ensure this will happen. I am grateful for this investment in broadband access in our rural communities. Our students, businesses, families, and communities will greatly benefit."

The program will fund extensions of existing last-mile cable modem and fiber-to-the-premise broadband networks, and large-scale regional projects that can transform broadband availability by serving large numbers of eligible addresses.
